Of the installation, Jerry Freund, President of MidAmerican stated, “For years we’ve had digital printing capability, now we’re seeing a growing demand for short run, fast turnaround, and personalized data color printing, to a volume where we began to explore options for increasing our capacity per shift while maintaining the high level of quality our customers expect. Putting the iGen150 into our line just made sense.”
The leap ahead from the Xerox iGen4 to the iGen150 provides 150% increase in processing power and over 300% greater drive storage enabling MidAmerican to load more print jobs at a time and offering greater operational efficiency. In addition to the performance increase, the iGen150 Press provides Flexible Object-Oriented Halftoning, shifting the orientation and density of printed dots depending on the area content; greater density and detail for text and larger, smoother print dots for smoother images and graphics. Of the quality increase, Freund notes, “We’re a G7 certified printer, so we focus heavily on quality. The new object-oriented halftoning takes our already high standards and raises the bar again. We couldn’t be happier with our latest equipment selection—it really augments our existing capabilities on our wide-format litho press.”
With the addition of the iGen150, MidAmerican is positioned to respond rapidly and with precision to a wider range of large format personalized print projects as well as a more seamless transition of color and finish between litho and digital press for split jobs, allowing MidAmerican to compete on a greater economic scale.
